After a two-year long silence, Forre Sterra are back with new music. Their new single is called “Movies” and will see the light of day on Jan 25 on all well-known streaming services.
Lennert has the following to say about the new song: “Movies was written during on of the lockdowns. Before the pandemic hit, I worked at my local movie theatre as a service employee. Because the theatre closed for a long time, I was unfortunately let go. In that period, you couldn’t go to see your friends, or that new movie that everyone was talking about. That became the main inspiration for the song: longing for times, people and places that just aren’t the same anymore. You wish you could go back, but you can’t and you have to accept that fact.”
Despite its melancholic message, Movies marks a quite energetic, pop-lenient switch in the bands discography, without letting go of what makes Forre Sterra so unique: their melancholic, story-based lyrics and guitar-driven songwriting.
To accompany the song, Forre Sterra have worked with director Pim Hegeman to bring you a mini-film centered around the titular song. The video for Movies will release on the 18th of February.
